The aim is a fatality-free, as well as fuel efficient transport infrastructure; in general to remove both the physical and moral hazards of transport. To create an air-powered train, we can build on ideas that date back over 150 years to Brunel. He had a working system that used plates in a tube sucked along by a vacuum, but considered it uneconomical. We can improve on his approach, I suggest by at least the following: - use turbines driving into rifled, plastic cylinders to create a rotating helical airflow - use ultra-light vehicles, since they carry neither engines nor fuel, enabling high-impact crumple zones - use junctions that are based upon internet hub & router concepts to manage traffic density, employing probably cable car or ski lift technology in the first instance to move vehicles within the router. Note the vehicle is only one component. The real technology lies in the network design, especially the physical router, allowing 3d compaction of traffic.
